October 18th & 19th:
Historic Cotton Patch Gold Mine & Campground is proud to announce the October Open Community Dig. Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th. All Gold found from Dig will be divided equally among contestants. Join in on the fun and collect your share of the GOLD. Two days of prospecting and camaraderie. Book your space now by calling our main office at 704-463-5797 or contact us via email at cottonpatchgoldmine@gmail.com. Early Bird Gets The Gold, so plan on staying overnight at our Campground.
Dig starts both day at 9am sharp. Start the day off with a trip to the pit. Where you get to see up close the rock vein, placer gold and gemstones. This is the only time we do ALLOW metal detectors to be used here. The gold bearing ore is then taken to the, crusher, trommel, mixers, shaker table.
You'll be split up into teams where some will shovel, crush, sort and whatever at the trommel and crusher. If you're not physically able to do some jobs another will be found for you.
At noon we will take a break for some tasty food from Tina's kitchen. 5:00 pm is dinner time and we'll see what Tina has for us then also.
Don't forget this is a working mine and it will be hot, dusty or cold, wet and/or muddy. You should have steel toed boots (rubber steel toed boots are the least expensive) and a hard hat and gloves.
